Existing personal lease driver FAQs

  • If you need to order replacement mats and/or number plates please contact us and we will be to able order additional or replacement items for you. The cost of these items are not covered by us unless faulty or incorrect items have been supplied.

  • If you've had an accident, please report it to your insurance company first, who will usually work with you to arrange a courtesy car if needed. It’s important that you don’t drive your vehicle unless you’re sure it’s still safe, legal, and roadworthy. After you’ve spoken to your insurer, please report it to us so we can log it on our records. To report an incident please call us on 0344 879 6000 between 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

My insurer has declared my vehicle a write-off. What happens next?

Once your insurer has agreed and paid the settlement amount, we’ll close your account. If the settlement amount doesn’t cover your outstanding balance, we’ll invoice you for the shortfall. Please pay this amount within 30 days of receiving the invoice.

While the total settlement amount is being agreed with your insurers, please keep up with your regular rental payments until the finance on your vehicle has been paid in full. We won’t refund these payments, but if you’ve made any payments in the time between the accident and the settlement being paid, we’ll take these off your outstanding balance, which may reduce any shortfall.

  • With Personal Leasing from us you can choose to include our optional maintenance package in your agreement at the start. The cost will be added to the monthly rental, giving you peace of mind that everything is running smoothly with no unpredictable costs. If you do not choose our optional maintenance package, you will be responsible for all costs relating to the services, maintenance and MOTs for the vehicle. You can still use our preferred supplier network for your vehicle’s in-life needs.

For servicing and routine maintenance, please contact your local franchised dealer directly. They will be able to confirm the next available appointment based on your requirements. To help reduce your vehicle’s time off the road you might consider a while-you-wait option.

For MOTs, please call 0330 123 1590 to book an appointment or contact your nearest Kwik Fit centre. Please remember to check all lights, the condition of your tyres and your windscreen for chips and cracks before booking.

Alternatively, you can manage your vehicle's needs via the Lex Autolease Driver Portal which can be accessed from any internet-enabled device. You can choose a garage based on location and select desired dates and will receive instant booking confirmation.

It is essential to service your vehicle in line with the manufacturer's guidelines (found in the handbook supplied with the vehicle). Failure to do so could result in extra costs being incurred for damage caused as a result of missing a service. After each service please ensure that the dealer has updated the service history on-line and in the service voucher book.

Any repairs required as a result of damage, theft, vandalism, driver neglect or misuse are not covered by any maintenance agreement and are rechargeable.

  • You can check your MOT date by visiting the DVLA website: Check the MOT status of a vehicle. If your vehicle is pre-registered, the date of your MOT may be earlier than 3 years from the delivery of your vehicle (4 years if Northern Ireland registered).

We'll send you reminders to help you remember to book your MOT, and it’s up to you to make sure the vehicle has a valid MOT and is safe, legal, and roadworthy. You must not continue to drive a vehicle that fails to meet any of these conditions. If you opted to take our maintenance cover, the cost of the MOT will be covered.

If you have a maintenance package with us and your vehicle fails its MOT, we’ll work with the garage directly to get it fixed and retested.

  • If you're thinking of taking your vehicle abroad in Europe, we’ll give you some documents before you go. These are:

    • A VE103a certificate that allows you to drive your Lex Autolease vehicle outside of the UK
    • A letter from us authorising you to take the vehicle outside of the UK

If you have a maintenance package with us, we’ll also provide you with details of our breakdown service in Europe.

Please request these from us at least two weeks before you go by calling our European travel line on 01564 701 118. Lines are open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday. Or you can do this online

When you call or request these online, we’ll ask for the following information:

    • Your registration number
    • Exact dates the car will be out of the country
    • Countries to be visited

You’ll need to pay for any maintenance needed on your vehicle whilst you’re out of the country. If you have a maintenance package with us, we may consider refunding these costs up to the same price of the repairs as if they had been carried out in the UK. We’ll need receipts and translated invoices within 28 days of any costs being incurred.

We recommend taking a touring kit of spare parts, a warning triangle and a first aid kit when travelling overseas, as they are mandatory in many countries. To find out more about what’s needed in the country or countries you're visiting, please call our travel line.

  • As living costs rise, keeping on top of your money might be worrying. If you're finding it difficult to manage your vehicle finance payments, you are not alone. We’re here to support you and help you get back on track.

You can find out about help and support for your payments on our money worries page.

  • At the end of your contract, we’ll let you know what repayments you’ll need to make. This may mean you’ll continue to make payments after you’ve returned your vehicle. We’ll include how you can repay early, if you can afford to do this.

If you’d like to repay your payment holiday sooner, you can do this by calling us on 0800 302 9160 and select option 3. We’re here from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, except Bank Holidays.
