The Great British EV Rally
Celebrating electric excellence
From the 4th to the 8th July, we teamed up with GREENFLEET to host the Great British EV Rally to showcase some of the best EV infrastructure that the UK has to offer.
The five-day event saw teams driving new and used full-electric cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) from John O’Groats to Lands’ End to demonstrate the power of the UK’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure combined with clean and innovative electric vehicle technology.
Throughout the week, 14 teams comprising some 50 vehicles took on the 1,200-mile journey stopping at 17 checkpoints along the way and taking hundreds of selfies!
Drivers included fleet professionals, key industry experts, media and some other well-known faces.
Lex Autolease has a strong track record in green fleet leasing, recognised in 2022 by the EV100 Climate Group, of which it is a member, for adding the most leased electric vehicles of any leasing members in any one country last year. We have also helped boost the fleets of some of the world’s largest EV users.
The GBEV Rally was a fantastic showcase for what electric vehicles and the associated infrastructure can achieve. We have a strong focus on helping our customers transition to net zero emission vehicles, so we were very keen to be involved.
The EV market is accelerating at a tremendous pace. Demonstrating these technologies and their capabilities now, will help build the confidence of others to go electric.
We will continue to advocate across the UK to improve charging infrastructure and to remove the significant barriers that currently prevent firms from transitioning their fleets to electric.
During the week, we also hosted an event at our head office at Heathside in Greater Manchester. Our panel event welcomed speakers from the SMMT, BVLRA, GRIDSERVE, Zemo Partnership, Arrival and Iduna, who covered a wide-range of topics including mass EV adoption, air quality improvement strategies, and the continued delivery of public charging infrastructure.
We loved seeing the scale and performance of the UK’s electric infrastructure on display and are already looking forward to next year!
